Who we are

Scholar Street SGO (“Scholar Street,” “we,” “us”) is a 501(c)(3) public charity in Arlington, Virginia, EIN 42-2704061. We will award K–12 scholarships to income-eligible students. This policy covers scholarstreet.org.

Scholarship applications are submitted on our scholarship platform at scholarship-insights.com, which is operated separately and has its own terms and privacy notice. Read that notice before applying.

What we collect

Information you give us

• Contact form: your name, email address, and any phone number, organization, or message you enter.
• Mailing list: the email address you submit. Sign-ups are handled by Substack, and your address is stored there.
• Donations: the information needed to process and acknowledge a gift. Card payments are handled by our payment processor. We never see or store your full card number.
• Email you send us at any scholarstreet.org address.

Information collected automatically

• Analytics: we use Google Analytics, which sets cookies and records pages viewed, approximate location from your IP address, referring site, and device and browser type. We use it to understand which pages are useful, not to identify you.
• Server logs kept by our hosting provider in the ordinary course of serving the site.

How we use it

• To answer your questions and follow up on inquiries.
• To send newsletters and program updates you asked for.
• To process donations, issue receipts, and meet the recordkeeping and reporting rules that apply to scholarship programs.
• To understand how the site is used and improve it.

Who we share it with

We share personal information only with service providers that help us run the organization, and only as needed for their work: our form provider, our email newsletter provider, our analytics provider, our payment processor, and our scholarship platform. We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of applicants, donors, or the organization.

Cookies and analytics

The site uses cookies for analytics. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and you can opt out of Google Analytics entirely with Google’s browser add-on. The site works without them.

Children’s privacy

This website is meant for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through it. Scholarship applications, which involve student information, are submitted by a parent or legal guardian on our scholarship platform. If you believe a child has given us information through this site, email us and we will delete it.

How long we keep it

We keep inquiries and correspondence for as long as needed to respond and maintain our records. Donation and scholarship records are kept as long as tax, grant, and program rules require. You can unsubscribe from the mailing list at any time using the link in any email.

Your choices

• Unsubscribe from the mailing list using the link in any email.
• Ask what we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it, by emailing info@scholarstreet.org. We honor these requests wherever we can, except where records must be kept by law.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under state privacy law, including under the Virginia Consumer Data Protection Act. Contact us at the address above to exercise them.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS, and we limit access to personal information to the people who need it. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Other sites

Our pages link to other organizations, including our scholarship platform and our newsletter. Their privacy practices are their own, and this policy does not cover them.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will post the new version here and update the date at the top of the page.
