We are a 501(c)(3) public charity in Arlington, Virginia (EIN 42-2704061), organized as a Scholarship Granting Organization. We will award K–12 scholarships to income-eligible students, funded by donors who receive a tax credit for giving.
Scholarships go toward qualified educational expenses — most often tuition at the school a family chooses. Scholarship money is paid directly to the school, not to the family.
No. Applying is free, and it always will be. We will never ask a family to pay a fee to be considered.
Scholarships are for students from households under an income limit, and the limit is set by the program funding the scholarship rather than by us. Those programs differ by state, and some set a higher limit for a student with a disability. We publish the exact figures that apply before each application window opens, so the rules are clear before you fill anything in.
It depends on the program funding the scholarship. Some cover tuition at non-public schools only; others also cover qualified expenses for students in public schools. We will say which applies when applications open.
We are based in Virginia and expect to serve families in more states as these programs take effect. Ask us about your state and we will tell you where things stand.
Applications are submitted online through our scholarship platform, and the Apply link at the top of this site will take you there once a window is open. You will need to create an account and provide documentation of your household income.
By financial need and academic merit, weighed together. An Independent Scholarship Selection Committee, seated outside our Board of Directors, will review applications and make the awards. The people who raise the money do not decide who receives it, and donors may support a community or a school but never a specific child.
No. Donors have no say in who receives a scholarship. That separation is a rule of these programs and a commitment of ours.
Awards are made for an award cycle, not permanently. Your family applies again in a later cycle and still has to meet the income limits then in force.
Tell us. Scholarship payments go to the school, so a school that is not set up to receive them cannot be paid. We are glad to talk with a school that wants to participate.
We use them to determine eligibility and to meet the recordkeeping rules these programs require, and we keep access limited to the people who need it. Our privacy policy explains what we collect and the choices you have.
No. Donors receive reporting about the program, never the identity or personal details of a family.
