Three steps connect a donor’s contribution to a student’s classroom — with award decisions made independently of the people who raise the money.
A donor makes a cash gift securely through the Scholar Street platform and automatically receives a donation receipt for their records.
Beginning in 2027, donors may claim a federal tax credit of up to $1,700, dollar-for-dollar. Contributions above the credited amount may qualify as a charitable deduction if you itemize.
An Independent Scholarship Selection Committee, operating outside Scholar Street’s Board, awards scholarships based on financial need and academic merit during the designated award cycle.
Scholarship funds are paid directly to the student’s verified school — never to the family — and may be used for tuition, tutoring, textbooks, technology, transportation, and other qualified K–12 educational expenses.
Payment is made to the verified educational institution, not to the household. This protects both the family and the integrity of the program.
Our program is structured to support a student and their siblings each consecutive year, as long as eligibility requirements continue to be met.
Our target award is $5,000, scaling higher as need and funding allow. We would rather fund fewer students well than spread support too thin to actually change a family’s decision about where their child goes to school.
